India-Japan Annual Summit 2025:The 15th India-Japan Annual Summit was held on 29-30 August 2025 in Tokyo, marking a significant milestone in the long-standing bilateral relationship between India and Japan. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba reaffirmed their commitment to deepening cooperation across a broad spectrum of sectors including economic growth, technology, security, and people-to-people exchanges.

• Investment Target: Japan set a ambitious investment target of 10 trillion yen (approximately $67 billion) in India over the next decade to boost economic collaboration.
• Joint Vision for the Next Decade: Both nations outlined a strategic roadmap focusing on eight key areas: economic partnership, economic security, mobility, ecological sustainability, technology and innovation, healthcare, people-to-people exchange, and state-prefecture partnerships.
• Economic Security Initiative: Priority sectors identified include semiconductors, critical minerals, pharmaceuticals, information and communication technologies, and clean energy.
• AI and Digital Partnership: Launch of the Japan-India AI Initiative and Digital Partnership 2.0 to foster collaboration on artificial intelligence, data centers, IoT, and emerging technologies.
• Human Resource Exchange: A plan for the two-way exchange of 500,000 people over five years, including 50,000 skilled and semi-skilled Indian workers moving to Japan.
• Defense and Security: Renewal of the 2008 security declaration and a joint declaration on security cooperation, emphasizing regional stability in the Indo-Pacific.
